📜 History
Agege was originally settled by Yoruba farmers and has grown significantly since the colonial era. It was officially recognised as a Local Government Area in 1976 during the local government reforms under General Murtala Muhammed. The area was historically known for cocoa farming before urbanisation transformed it into a commercial and residential district. Its proximity to the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway made it a strategic gateway between Lagos and Ogun State.
