📜 History
Alimosho was carved out as a separate LGA in 1991 from the old Agege LGA as part of the military government's local government restructuring. Before urbanisation, the area was largely agrarian with small Yoruba farming settlements. The construction of the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway and later the development of estates such as Jakande Estate and Satellite Town spurred massive population growth. Today it hosts over 1.2 million residents making it the most populous LGA in Nigeria.
