📜 History
Amuwo-Odofin was created in 1991. Its most significant historical event was hosting FESTAC '77, a pan-African cultural festival that brought together over 17,000 artists, writers and performers from 59 African nations and the diaspora. The Festac housing estate built for the festival became one of Lagos's most organised residential communities. The LGA also hosts the Atlas Cove petroleum depot, a critical fuel storage and distribution hub for Nigeria.
