📜 History
Epe has a deep-rooted history tied to the Ijebu Yoruba. In 1853, Oba Kosoko, a former Oba of Lagos, was exiled to Epe after a conflict with the British, establishing a royal court that shaped the town's political culture. The town later became a British protectorate before being incorporated into the Lagos Colony. Epe's fishing traditions remain vibrant and the annual Ojude Oba festival is one of the most celebrated cultural events in the region.
