Ibeju-Lekki is the fastest-growing LGA in Nigeria and arguably on the African continent. Home to the Dangote Refinery — the largest single-train petroleum refinery in the world — the Lekki Free Zone, Lekki Deep Sea Port and the proposed Lekki International Airport, the LGA is set to become a major industrial powerhouse. Its pristine beaches and lagoons also make it a tourism destination.

📜 History
Ibeju-Lekki was created in 1991 from parts of the old Epe LGA. For decades it was sparsely populated with small fishing and farming communities. The declaration of the Lekki Free Trade Zone in 2006 marked the turning point, attracting hundreds of billions in foreign direct investment. The Dangote Refinery, which has a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, broke ground in 2016 and is now transforming not just the LGA but the entire Nigerian petroleum sector.
