📜 History
Kosofe was created in 1991 from the old Mushin LGA. The area's growth is closely tied to the construction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway and the development of Mile 12 as a major commercial hub. Ketu has historical roots as a Yoruba settlement and is named after the ancient Ketu Kingdom in present-day Benin Republic from which some of its founders migrated. The area became a major entry point for goods and people from eastern and northern Nigeria.
