Mushin is one of the most densely populated and commercially active LGAs on the Lagos Mainland. Known for its bustling markets, auto-parts trade and vibrant street culture, Mushin has a strong working-class identity and has produced many of Nigeria's most celebrated artists, musicians and entrepreneurs. The area is synonymous with the Alaba and Ladipo markets — major auto parts trading hubs.

📜 History
Mushin was originally a farming settlement on the outskirts of Lagos before rapid urban migration transformed it from the 1940s onwards. It became a major destination for migrants from Yoruba and Igbo communities seeking work in Lagos. The area developed a reputation for both vibrant commerce and social challenges. In the 1970s and 80s, Mushin was associated with area boys and street gangs, but also with remarkable creative output including contributions to Jùjú and Afrobeats music.
