📜 History
Shomolu was created as a separate LGA in 1991 from the former Lagos Mainland LGA. Bariga has deep historical connections to Lagos's early urban growth, with the community developing alongside the expansion of the railway. The area is associated with some of Nigeria's most prominent educational and media institutions. Gbagada's development as an upscale area accelerated in the late 1990s and 2000s as real estate investors developed estates targeting professionals and diaspora returnees.
